We Need A Balanced Budget Amendment

July 27, 2011

If you read many of the conservative blogs or articles, you will see a count of how many days since Congress passed a budget.  As of today it is 819.  The Democrat party is responsible for most of this because for about 700 of those days they controlled the House, Senate, and of course had the Socialist in the Whitehouse.  However, I am not willing to only blame Pelosi, Reid, and Obama, the entire system of allowing the government to operate without fiscal controls is at fault.

I live in Miami-Dade County in the State of Florida.  In the County Charter and the State Constitution there are provisions that force politicians to produce and then abide by a balanced budget.  As I think about it further, my wife also requires a balanced budget.  So the question is why do we accept the Federal government’s ability to ignore the budgeting process and spend money as they wish?  We shouldn’t!

Both political parties need to have a limit placed on them by the people.  The process of budgeting forces debate on the priorities set by the President.  If you wish to spend money like a drunken sailor, make your argument, convince the majority of your peers, and then vote for a big budget.  You may have to explain yourself to the voters in the next election, but you did what you thought was best, right?  On the other hand, you may want to cut Federal spending to $37 total.  During your re-election campaign, your opponent will say you were killing senior citizens and that may not work out too well either.

It seems to me that budgeting forces debate and common sense budget allotments because of elections.  That is too reasonable and I guess why we don’t currently have a budget, nor have we had one for almost three years.  It is time to take this out of the hands of the politicians, and put it in the hands of people.  We need a Constitutional Amendment requiring a balanced budget.  There was a provision in the Cut, Cap, and Balance plan put forward that would start the amendment on its way, but Dingy Reid refused to bring it up for a vote.  These politicians need to be shown that WE are in charge, they are simply representatives.

Let’s get on the bandwagon.  You can write your representative and also support the many organizations that work for a balanced budget constitutional amendment.

They ALL Have to Go!

April 9, 2011

I always say that I think I write better when I am upset.  That may or may not be true, but since we have had a Republican led House of Representatives, our socialist President hasn’t been able to forward any of his outrageous agenda.  Therefore, I haven’t really been motivated to rant on the blog.

Finally, both parties did something to make me mad yesterday.

When you go to different political websites, you will see articles hailing the averted government shutdown.  How can any taxpayer be happy with a $38.5 billion reduction in spending?  I know I am not.  That amount of money may sound like a lot, but the Republican leadership promised a $100 billion cut this year.  I guess I am only 38.5% happy with them.  $38.5 billion is a drop in the bucket when you realize that in the last seven days, the Federal deficit rose by $54.1 billion.  So the Republican party is patting themselves on the back for a yearly savings that was wiped out in less than 5 days.  I guess we get screwed the other 360.

As for those silly Democrats, they are the reason we were in this situation of continuing resolutions and last minute deals to avoid the alleged government shutdown.  Remember that only about 30% of the government stops working on a shutdown.  The critical public safety areas continue, and so does Congress, lucky us.  You probably haven’t heard this on our state sponsored media outlets, but Congress last year, with a Democrat Senate, Democrat House, and a Democrat (or Socialist) President, neglected to pass a budget.  Talk about a spineless bunch.  They just kept spending money and raising the debt ceiling without passing a budget.  Wouldn’t it be great to run your life like that, a total lack of fiscal discipline.

Our national debt is now at $14,273,028,684,212.22.  Your share of the debt is $45,988.  That is outrageous.  We have to tell both parties that they need to stop overspending.  We are going to collapse under the weight of this debt.

$14,025,215,218,708.52

January 3, 2011

Happy New Year everyone.  I pray that you have a wonderful and prosperous new year.  Millions of capitalists are counting on you!

Unfortunately, the bad news keeps coming with Obama at the helm…the U.S. Treasury reported that as of the last day of 2010, the National Debt stood at $14,025,215,218,708.52.  It took only 7 months for the National Debt to increase from $13 trillion to over $14 trillion on Dec. 31.

This is a national crisis that has to be dealt with immediately.  Repealling socalized medicine is a good start.  We have to cut spending.  I have seen many liberals writing about “gridlock”, but if that gridlock means we put a stop to this socialist administration’s policies, I’m all for it.  With this socialist in the White House, $20 trillion in debt cant be that far away.

Update:  Here is a stat I saw today, very telling.

In the 1,461 days that Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D.-Calif.) served as speaker of the House, the national debt increased by a total of $5.343 trillion ($5,343,452,800,321.37) or $3.66 billion per day ($3.657,394,113.84), according to official debt numbers published by the U.S. Treasury.

$13,310,379,000,000

August 21, 2010

That’s a big number.  That is the Unites States’ debt, owned mostly by the Chinese.  I would like to thank our Socialist president for spending money like we can print all we want.

What is your share of the debt?  About $44,000 for every citizen.  The millions of illegal aliens in the Country don’t owe anything, because they don’t pay taxes.  They sure do cost money though, through medical, education, and law enforcement expenses, along with many other costs.

I don’t want to completely blame the ultra-liberal Obama administration.  The Bush administration also spent too much money, but this extremist has increased the Federal debt by almost $3 Trillion Dollars in 19 months!  President Bush increased the deficit by $5 Trillion in 8 years.  When this Obama nightmare ends in January 2013, our deficit is anticipated to be $17.4 Trillion.  Almost a $7 Trillion increase in four terrible years.  That is even before the majority of the costs associated with socialized medicine kick in.

We have to put the Federal government on a diet.  They have to be told by the people that pay the bills that they must stop wasting our money.  TARP, Stimulus, Government Motors, and all the other wasteful spending must stop.  Elect fiscal conservatives to office.  Tell the liberal extremists it is not okay to buy votes in congress like they did for Nelson in NE, and Landrieu in LA.  We do not have to accept this type of governance.  Throw these bums out!

$938 Billion

March 23, 2010

After multiple bailouts of the auto, banking, insurance, and mortgage industries, the Stimulus Package, and now the assimilation of health care, we are in so much debt, I don’t think we will ever be in the black again.  This $938 billion debacle signed by the socialist now occupying the White House may push us off the cliff we have been teetering on.

A trillion here, a trillion there, pretty soon we are talking about real money.  We have to stop bleeding money.  We need to elect candidates that will enact a law requiring a balanced budget.  In an era of limited and diminishing resources, the Federal government needs to be put on a diet.  There are priorities that each of us need.  The founding fathers did a pretty good job enumerating them in the Constitution.  The past Republican administration overspent and that makes me mad.  This socialist administration is spending like they own the printing press.  They don’t, we do, and until they feel the flex of the American electorate, they will continue to bleed us for every cent they can get.

I truly hope the fervor over this latest spending spree holds over till November.  These elected officials are spending our money like drunken sailors and Obama is paying off congressmen like Stupak with our tax money.  Did you see that Stupak’s district got almost $1 million in airport grants two days before the vote?  Maybe the useless executive order on abortion was not the determining factor in his yes vote.  I think it would be good to see what these “servants of the people” have gotten us into.

I am a George W. Bush fan, but he was no fiscal conservative.  When he entered office in 2001, the Federal deficit was $5.7 trillion.  When he left office in 2010, that number had grown to $10.7 trillion.  That is an 88% increase in our debt in eight years.  I guess the only thing that kind of lessens the impact of the increase is the use of the majority of the money for post-9/11 security measures.  Of course, there were those two wars where we are still spending incredible amounts of money.

Since our current socialist president has taken office, he has put the checkbook to extreme use.  We may have an ink shortage soon.  Our estimated deficit at the end of this year is $14.5 trillion.  How about that, 26% in two years!  That’s not the bad news.  In 2012, when our socialist president will be thrown out of office, he will leave us with a total debt of $17.4 trillion.  That is a 63% increase in debt in only 4 years.

I would now like to thank each of those uninformed 65 million people that voted for “change” for the personal debt of $58.000 for each man, woman, and child in this Country, most of which is owed to the Chinese.  This spending has to stop.  Support and vote for candidates that will hold the line on spending and this redistribution of wealth.
