Support Arizona!

July 19, 2010

It is good to be home.  I spent a couple weeks traveling to DC and the Northeast.  My son looked at a few colleges and took a class at Georgetown, but now we are home and ready for the push to school start and November elections.

I wrote earlier about the travesty of the United States ceding territory to the drug dealers from Mexico.  The people in the state of Arizona recently passed legislation that will help them stem the flow of illegal immigration into the State.  The Federal government, under the “leadership” of our socialist president has seen fit to sue Arizona for passing a law that covers enforcement activity that is a Federal responsibility.  Unlike that idiot Holder, I actually read the law, and it mirrors the Federal statute on illegal immigration.

Holder decided that this law was terrible without reading it.  Why does the Federal government believe they are the solver of all problems?  Oh yea, they are a bunch of socialists!  They have healthcare, car companies, banks, investment firms, mortgage lenders, and many other institutions that belong in the private sector.  Those liberals believe they know what is best for us.  Now they believe that they know what is best for Arizona.

Back when Big Sis Napolitano was governor of Arizona, she sent a bill to the Republican led Federal government for the cost of incarcerating illegal immigrants.  The bill was for $217 million.  I guess she thought it was a good political move and brought to attention the incredible hardship illegal immigration brings to the State of Arizona.  She also declared a state of emergency along the border.  Now that she is part of the socialist administration, I guess this is no longer an issue.

A recent study by Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) puts the cost of illegal immigration at $113 BILLION.  Guess what part of this incredible figure the feds pay for: $29 billion.  That leaves the states to pick up the rest of the tab.  Why shouldn’t states pass laws to protect themselves?

The people of Arizona have the right to be secure.  They have the right to protect themselves from the illegal invasion of their borders.  They have the right to enforce laws that the representatives of the people enact.  I am pro-immigration.  Besides the fact that we are all immigrants, I and my brothers are married to women born outside this Country.  Let me re-phrase, I am pro-legal immigration.  If the Federal government wants to increase the number of immigrants allowed in the Country, adjust the quotas.  We cannot afford to let this continuous flaunting of our laws to continue.  The law abiding and tax paying citizens deserve to have their taxes and limited resources used to the betterment of the Country, not to have those hard earned taxes used to pay for the consequences of illegal immigration.

Country Under Seige

June 19, 2010

Having been in law enforcement for more than 23 years, I have developed an attitude that we should not accept lawlessness. When criminals believe they can act with impunity, it is up to the official charged with protecting the citizenry to step up, take action, and return the affected areas to a condition that allows law abiding citizens to feel secure in their person. It is disgusting that the Federal government does not see this situation the same way.

Since October 2006, 3500 acres in the Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge have been off-limits to American citizens because of the danger of violent drug traffickers entering the United States of America from Mexico. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service closed the area and said they have no plans to re-open it. I guess they will just ignore the problem, keep closing areas of the Country, and hope the lawlessness stops.

This situation is completely unacceptable. We cannot allow pieces of our nation, our National Parks, or our cities to be ruled by criminals. I can see the meeting with my bosses now. “Captain, there is a significant amount of gang activity in neighborhood X. Please do something about it.” I don’t think I would last very long if my response was to make the area off-limits to law abiding citizens. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service posted signs to keep us out of areas in the park. I guess I could ask them to send me some signs to put up around neighborhood X. That would do the trick! NOT! I think my bosses would say something like “If you can’t get the problem solved, we’ll find someone who can.” That needs to be done here.

We need to control our borders and punish those who cannot respect our laws. Intense enforcement action of drug and immigration laws should be vigorously implemented. It is a travesty of justice that parts of America can be closed because we refuse to stand up for law. Can you imagine shutting down portions of Washington D.C.? This is no different. We must require the officials charged with protecting the Country to do their jobs, or they should be replaced.
