The Captain’s Recommendations

October 27, 2010

I have been asked several times for recommendations on the candidates.  I will give a few opinions on some of the elections.

There are a couple of races I feel strongly about…Marco Rubio is heads and shoulders above the field.  I strongly encourage you to vote for him and send a true conservative to Washington.  If you have access to the Miami Herald, Morin’s cartoon today is very funny.  Crist is trying to get back in good with the Republicans.  Too late Charlie!

Lt. Col. Allen West is running against Representative Kline in House District 22.  Col. West is a strong conservative voice that will be a great servant of the people, just as he has done for the last 23 years in the Army.

Joe Garcia and David Rivera are in a nasty fight for House seat 25.  These two crazed individuals are shining examples of the joke that politics has become.  When discussing this race, I find myself asking “Who will they caucus with?”  That makes the answer clear, vote Rivera.  Garcia is an extreme liberal, and will simply do what Obama tells him to.

If I was in Broward, I would get to vote against Debbie Wasserman Shultz.  Voting for the Republican would be a given.  Debbie, the attack dog of the Obama administration, should be sent on her way.

There are several Constitutional Ammendments on the ballot.  I haven’t researched the questions, but former Governor Jeb Bush has made some recomendations.  I read his article and it sounds good to me.  Here is the link to that article:

http://www2.tbo.com/content/2010/oct/21/jeb_amendments/news-opinion-commentary/

Last but not least, the race for Florida Governor…I am at a loss here.  I have deep problems with both candidates.  Ms. Sink is too liberal and supports the socialist takeover of our healthcare system, wants more stimulus money, and loves our socialist in Chief.  Scott on the other hand, ran a company that defrauded the government, and ultimately you and I out of hundreds of millions of tax dollars.  He has been using “his own” (read our) money for his campaign.  I can’t in good conscience vote for either of these two.

The Two Largest Deficits in History

October 15, 2010

Here is another record and story the Obama administration would prefer you miss.  The Federal deficit for FY 2010 was $1.294 TRILLION.  There is some good news, that is actually down from our Socialist in Chief’s first year deficit of a record $1.4 Trillion.  For both his years in office, Obama has set the record for deficit spending.  How’s that for a resume builder?  I think the Democrats strategy to bury this story involves counting on most of their supporters watching Jerseylicious instead of news.

Any idea of what the deficit was in President Bush’s last full year in office?  $160 Billion.  This socialist and his buddies will bankrupt this Country if they are not stopped.  When you go to the polls in November, vote for the fiscal conservative.  We have to cut spending to get out of this mess Obama is creating.

There is some good and bad news out of the State of Florida.  The good news is that Marco Rubio has increased his lead in the Senate race to over 16 points.  The recent debate showed why he is the candidate to vote for.  He is conservative and will stand up to help stop the insane march to socialism the current administration and congressional leadership are proposing.  I would not be surprised to see him as President in 12 years.

The bad news…I am at a loss as to who to vote for Governor.  Unfortunately, Scott beat McCollum and now we have to choose between an extreme liberal who will do exactly what Obama tells her (Sink), and a guy who probably defrauded the Federal government out of $300 million (Scott).  I don’t think I can vote for either of them.  I can’t believe Scott beat McCollum.  There is no viable candidate.

We Are Not a Third Party

September 16, 2010

I still blame millionaire Ross Perot for Bill Clinton.  Perot spent millions of his own money in a failed campaign for the Presidency.  Perot was (still is?) a conservative and the votes he got would have been cast for George H. W. Bush.  By splitting the Republican vote, the Country got stuck with Bill Clinton who won the election by a plurality.

I have heard a lot of talk about “Tea Party Candidates” that are splitting the votes and causing havoc in the Republican Party.  The people talking about the Tea Party like they are outsiders are mistaken.  The vast majority of us that identify ourselves as members of the Tea Party are Republicans.  We just happen to be more conservative than the recent leadership of the party.

In the November election, there won’t be three candidates in most of these critical races.  The Republican will simply be a more conservative Republican.  The fact that a candidate identified themselves with the Tea Party movement only means they are not RINOs.  The Tea Party candidate won the Republican nomination and eliminated the establishment backed candidate in the primary.

The Republican leadership seems taken aback that conservative candidates are beating the Party backed candidate.  We do not need to elect Republicans who vote like Democrats, or will be out there selling the tax payers down the river so they can “reach across the aisle.”  We don’t like liberal policies, and conservative members of Congress that identify themselves with the Tea Party will help stop the insane spending that is going on in Washington.

Speaking of three candidates on the ballot…Republican Marco Rubio has opened a 9.8 point lead over a flip flopping used to be a Republican but couldn’t accept defeat Crist.  Meek is so far back that he already updated his resume.  I’m sure Obama will make him the Czar of something.  Please support the Marco Rubio campaign.  Visit his website (http:marcorubio.com) and support a true conservative.  Marco Rubio will be a great advocate for conservatives, a defender of freedom, and the American way of life… things that are currently under attack in this Country.

Marco Rubio Is For Real

August 14, 2010

On Wednesday, August 11, 2010, I attended an excellent town hall meeting on Facebook.  Marco Rubio was sitting in his house at a computer being peppered with questions from the hundreds of people watching the broadcast.  I asked about five questions, but because of the vast number, he didn’t answer any of mine.

The thing I found most interesting and impressive was that Mr. Rubio was answering complex questions about many topics off the top of his head.  His knowledge of issues is deep and thoughtful.  You can tell he believes what he says and when he speaks, it is with confidence and conviction.

As I watched, I couldn’t help but compare and contrast him to our Socialist President who can’t say good morning without a teleprompter guiding him.  One thing that keeps me up at night is remembering that Axelrod and Emmanuel are telling Obama what to say.  The communists and ultra-liberals have got to love the fact that Obama will say whatever they type into the teleprompter.

One more thing…I usually don’t comment on local politics, but there was one person I would like to urge you to vote for.  Monica Gordo is running for Judge in Miami-Dade County.  I worked with her while she was a gang prosecutor in the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office.  She would make a great judge and I urge those of you in Miami-Dade to vote for her.

Don’t Split the Vote

April 26, 2010

The Senate race in Florida could be more competitive than it needs to be in November.  I wonder when politicians will put the needs of the Country ahead of their own?

Governor Charlie Crist is now 23 percentage points behind former Speaker of the Florida House Marco Rubio, and that race for the nomination appears to be over.  Mr. Rubio is picking up endorsements from the heavy hitters in Republican politics recently, and it seems the Governor is reserved to the fact that he has lost the Republican nomination.

But here’s the rub, should the Gov lose the nomination to Rubio, will he run as an independent?  I think Governor Crist has been a member of the Republican party for 24 years.  That is 24 years of support of his many campaigns, forwarding his policies, and providing a political machine for his ambitions.  If he leaves the party and runs as an independent, he may win, but the real hazard is splitting the Republican vote and then we would have the real possibility of having that empty suit Meek as a Senator.

If you look at the polls, both Rubio and Crist whip Meek in a straight up vote.  In a three way race, Rubio is still in the lead, but the margin is small.  Much too close to risk putting a liberal like Meek into a Senate seat.  By the way, what possessed Meek to leave a Congressional seat that would have been his for life?  What a bone-head move.  More on that later…

Remember the last time we split the Republican vote?  Ross Perot ran for President and we ended up with that overly-sexed Clinton.  (Thank God he was impeached.)  Those people who voted Perot were not going to vote for Clinton.  He split the Republican vote and we got Clinton elected by a plurality (another bit of solace).

Governor Crist should run against Speaker Rubio.  When that winner is decided, the party should come together to ensure we smoke Meek in the general election.  Senator Nelson is up for re-election in 2012, we are going to need a strong candidate for that fight.  Either Rubio or Crist can run for that seat.  Wouldn’t it be great to have two Republican Senators from Florida?

Impressive South Florida Candidates

January 24, 2010

On Saturday, South Florida Conservatives hosted an impressive group of candidates for national office at a Freedom Forum I.  There were four candidates for the House of Representatives, Robert Lowery, Corey Poitier, Edward Lynch, and Bernard Sansaricq, and Marco Rubio, a candidate for the United States Senate.

And then there was a disappointing crowd.  I would guess there were about 200 people there.  I don’t believe that people didn’t really know about the function.  I told about 80 or so people, and it was on the blog several times and was read by hundreds of people in South Florida, and that was just me.  So where was everyone?  Does the win by Scott Brown in Massachusetts mean we can take a break?  That win means we have an opportunity, it is not a foregone conclusion that Republicans will sweep elections in November.  We must work for the wins.  We cannot assume that this will happen on its own.  I encourage each of you to donate money , time, or both to these candidates.  Only with our support can they bring some semblance of rationality back to this Country.

Luckily for us in South Florida, there are an excellent group of conservatives that need and deserve your support.  Last night I had the opportunity to hear them speak, and then talk to them as they answered questions and just talked to the crowd.  I talked to my son about having the opportunity to speak personally with men that would be making the tough decisions about the direction of this Country in the future.  It was an incredible experience.

Now on to the candidates…I voted for Charlie Crist for Governor.  However, after hearing Speaker Rubio and looking at his platform and what he believes in, I will be supporting him.  I have a problem with Governor Crist’s support of Obama’s stimulus bill.  I believe the only conservative in the running for Senate from Florida is Speaker Rubio and he is the only one that I believe will stand up for conservative principles in Washington DC.  To donate money or time to this campaign, go to http://marcorubio.com.

Mr. Robert Lowry is running against that idiot Debbie Wasserman-Shultz.  That should be enough for you to break out your checkbook and give him whatever he wants.  Regardless of his opponent, Mr. Lowry is an engaging intelligent man.  I spoke to him for several minutes.  He seems genuinely concerned for people and spent last week in Haiti helping with the relief effort.  To donate money or time to this campaign, go to http://lowryforcongress.com.

Mr. Corey Poitier is a high school government and economics teacher in North Miami.  He is running for the seat for some unknown reason vacated by Kendrick Meek.  Mr. Poitier spoke about inspiring students and improving education, and being fiscally responsible.  He is in a very crowded field and in need of our help.  To donate money or time to this campaign, go to http://poitierforcongress.com.

Mr. Edward Lynch also spent the last week in Haiti.  It is so inspiring to see leaders go out of their way to help in times of crisis.  He talked about one of my favorite topics:  Energy Independence.  He spoke about the large amounts of money we send to people who don’t even like us, and the fact that we have plenty of oil here, we just need to access it.  This would also create thousands of jobs.  To donate money or time to this campaign, go to http://electlynch.com.

Last, but certainly not least is Mr. Bernard Sansaricq.  This is a man that makes you want to stand up and shout “God Bless America” when he describes why he is running for Congress.  Mr. Sansaricq is a former President of the Senate in Haiti.  He spent his teen years in America, and after Aristide was placed in power by Clinton, he came back to America and became a citizen.  He is an inspiring speaker that is running against that crook and impeached Federal Judge Alcee Hastings.  How Hastings continues to get elected is mystifying.  Please support Mr. Sansaricq in his race.  To donate money or time to this campaign, go to http://sansaricq4congress.org.

Okay, there is my report on Freedom Forum I.  Please join me for the next one and support conservative candidates.  Together we can affect the direction of this Country.  I got this today from a good friend.  It is definately worth your time to watch!

It’s Time To Get Serious

January 3, 2010

Happy New Year everyone!  May God bless you and your families this year.

I am glad 2009 is over.  It was just a terrible year for our Country.  Many people lost jobs, a great number of houses were foreclosed, and several terrorist attacks killed hard working people that were completely innocent.  Many members of the armed forces also lost their lives defending us in far away lands.

I thank God every day that we have citizens who raise their hands and volunteer to put themselves in harm’s way.  The all volunteer armed forces continue to amaze me with their dedication to freedom and selfless acts to promote democracy throughout the world.

The year 2009 will also be forever imprinted on my mind because we inaugurated a socialist president knowing full well he was incapable of governing.  This administration has been a total failure.  Unemployment skyrocketed, terrorists have been given rights in unprecedented situations, conservatives have been labeled as right wing extremists, and the list continues to grow.  Did you see that Interpol now does not have to be subject to any American law enforcement oversight?

Well, it’s 2010.  You have it in your power to stop this march toward socialism.  You have the say in which direction this Country goes.  The vote on every member of the House of Representatives and one third of the Senate is only 11 months away.  It is up to each one of us that believe the government is not the answer to all our problems to get out and vote, and support candidates that believe in less government and lower taxes.  If you have the financial resources, give money to help like minded candidates.  If you have time, work on a political campaign.

The holidays are over.  It’s time to get to work to change the path of America.  Here is an opportunity for those of you in South Florida.  The South Florida Conservatives are hosting a candidate forum at the Doubletree Miami Mart on January 23, 2010, at 5:00 p.m.  Marco Rubio, LTC Allen West, and other Congressional candidates will be there to answer questions.  Please join me there, and for further information, go to http://www.sflaconservative.com/upcoming-events/freedom-forum-1/

Now get out there and get to work!!!!
